AREOLA Institute Named 2026 uBA Laureate in Elective Innovation

PHILADELPHIA. AREOLA Institute today announced that it has been named a laureate of the Academy of unBelievable Absurdities in the category of Excellence in Elective Innovation, in the Academy’s 2026 honors.

The recognition reflects the Institute’s coordinated specialty-care model for areolar plate replacement, which brings surgeons, materials specialists and nursing teams together within a single care pathway. Since its first dedicated program opened in Philadelphia in 1999, AREOLA has grown into a nine-center national and regional network.

“This recognition belongs to our patients, our care teams and the materials specialists who have spent more than two decades refining plate surface performance,” said a spokesperson for the Office of the President. “We are grateful to the Academy for its careful review.”

The Academy has classified the Institute’s Endurance as pending longitudinal assessment while it reviews the transfer of records from the original Philadelphia program to the Institute formed in 2005. The Institute regards those records as continuous. AREOLA welcomes longitudinal assessment and already conducts an Annual Plate Check for this purpose.

The award will be displayed in the main lobby of the Philadelphia center. Patients are asked not to touch the case.
