The honors
Award Categories
Five categories. Everyone gets the same statuette, and the citation says what it was for.
The Committee looks at finished work and long-running practice. Not every category gets an award every year, and sometimes two recipients share one.
Public Record & Research
Lifetime Achievement in Public Record
For years of research and documentation, and for keeping a record that would otherwise have disappeared.
Supporting evidence: Archives, publications, field reports, collected testimony or a long body of research.
From the Hall: Cock Goblin Research & Safety Council (2022)
Preservation & Custodianship
Distinguished Custodianship
For looking after a collection, place or tradition and keeping it open to the public.
Supporting evidence: Collection histories, conservation records, public access and proof that you are still the one looking after it.
From the Hall: The Testicle Tabernacle (2023)
Specialist Innovation
Excellence in Elective Innovation
For building a service, process or system around a very specific need and committing to it completely.
Supporting evidence: A working practice, documented methods and a clear explanation of what the nominee started.
From the Hall: AREOLA Institute (2026)
Arts & Independent Vision
Uncompromising Vision in the Arts
For a distinctive body of art made with a clear vision and on the artist’s own terms.
Supporting evidence: A portfolio, exhibitions, publications or other finished work. A proposal alone is not a body of work.
