Minutes of the Board of Governors
Present: Altenwerth (Chair), Pruitt, Ostrowski, Haas, Kettering, and two Governors who have asked not to be named. Recording: Tilley, Registrar.
- The Chair called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.
- The Awards Committee recommended The Testicle Tabernacle, Reggie Osterhout, Keeper, for Distinguished Custodianship. Dr. Pruitt described the file: one photograph of a yellow truck, fourteen pages of letters from ranchers and pet owners, and a stated count of 312 pairs. He counted the pairs mentioned in the letters twice and got a different number each time. The nominee’s figure was adopted.
- Ms. Haas reported that the nominee has no mailing address. His website shows a photograph of a truck and the words FOLLOW THE YELLOW TRUCK. A postcard from 2021 was postmarked Kingman, Arizona. The Board authorized General Delivery, Kingman.
- Mr. Ostrowski announced that he would abstain and asked that the abstention be recorded. Asked whether he wished his reasons recorded as well, he said no.
- The Board voted on the 2023 award. Carried, one abstention.
- Mr. Ostrowski asked that the certificate be sent with a red wax seal. The Chair asked whether this was connected to the abstention. Mr. Ostrowski said it was not.
- Mr. Kettering asked whether an abstention could be referred to the Subcommittee. The Chair said an abstention is not a decision. Mr. Kettering said that seemed to be the problem.
The meeting adjourned at 7:33 p.m.
