Minutes of the Board of Governors
Present: Altenwerth (Chair), Pruitt, Ostrowski, Haas, Kettering, and two Governors who have asked not to be named. Recording: Tilley, Registrar.
- The Chair called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and asked that everyone be seated before the portfolio was passed around.
- The Awards Committee recommended Brian’s Buttholes, Institute for Radical Perineal Form, for Uncompromising Vision in the Arts. Dr. Pruitt distributed the portfolio, nearly a decade of photographs.
- Ms. Altenwerth asked that the record show she had looked at all of them.
- Dr. Pruitt proposed a grade of Satisfactory for Thoroughness, on the grounds that the artist’s captions are only sometimes captions. Carried.
- Ms. Haas reported that the artist will not attend and has asked that the award be mailed. Ms. Haas asked what a discreet envelope looks like. The Board agreed on a padded one.
- Mr. Kettering offered to reconsider the vote in advance, to save time. The Chair thanked him and declined.
- The Board voted on the 2024 award. Carried, four votes to three. The three Governors voting no asked that their reasons be recorded as “the photographs.”
The meeting adjourned at 7:41 p.m.
